Objetives
In order to face the opportunities and threats associated with the ecological and digital transformation, companies and governments have placed the adoption of sustainable technologies among their top priorities. In this area, various studies have made substantial contributions to the field of ecological innovation.
This project aims to advance our understanding of digital and ecological innovation through five main objectives:
1. To identify digital and non-digital eco-technologies using patents.
2. To recognize the knowledge base needed to generate digital eco-technologies.
3. To analyze the diffusion processes of digital eco-technologies and their causes.
4. To investigate the environmental and economic effects of digital eco-technologies.
5. To examine the gender gap in the context of digital eco-technologies.
The project aims to generate valuable scientific and technological knowledge to support ecological and digital transitions. Its novelty lies in the currently limited understanding of the creation, dissemination, and impacts of digital eco-technologies.
The methodology involves several steps:
- Collecting data on digital eco-patents from patent offices and databases.
- Identifying inventors’ genders using data from the International Patent Office and other sources for environmental and economic information.
- Conducting empirical modeling in three phases
Phase 2: Modeling technology diffusion processes.
Phase 3: Assessing the environmental and economic impacts.
