Esther Ferrándiz León

Profesora Titular de Universidad

In 2009, I joined the SEJ295-Innovation and Transport Economics research group after obtaining a research grant (FPI Scholarship) from an excellence project funded by the Junta de Andalucía. In 2013, I defended my doctoral thesis, presented as a compilation of articles, and received the European Mention and the highest distinction, Sobresaliente Cum Laude, by unanimous decision. Additionally, I was awarded the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize. Since 2020, I have been an Associate Professor at the university.

Regarding my scientific publications, I have a recognized six-year research period, with 9 articles published in JCR-indexed impact journals, 1 in SJR, and 2 book chapters. In 2017, I was granted a research project by the University of Cádiz, in which I served as the principal investigator. This project focused on studying open innovation in SMEs, allowing me to gain experience in leading research teams and managing project administration.

My research has been oriented towards the Economics of Innovation and Technological Change, covering various topics such as the analysis of knowledge flows for the production of science and technology, including the dual use of military technology and open innovation. Notably, I co-authored a first-quartile JCR journal article on the relationship between intellectual capital and open innovation, developed in collaboration with researchers from Università degli Studi di Cassino e del Lazio Meridionale. This collaboration was facilitated by an Erasmus Teaching grant. The article advances the theoretical framework linking open innovation and intellectual capital, providing empirical evidence using data from the Technological Innovation Panel (PITEC).

Some general quality indicators of my scientific output are as follows. WoS indicators (Researcher ID: G-4661-2011): Total articles in publication list: 12; Sum of times cited: 104; H-Index: 6. Google Scholar indicators: citations: 234; H-index: 7; i10-index: 7. I have participated in over 20 conferences, most of them international, and given 4 invited seminars, 3 of which were at foreign universities (Leiden University, University of Limerick, KU Leuven, and CSIC-UPV).

During my doctoral thesis development, I completed two research stays that allowed me to integrate into dynamic research groups in the field of innovation, focusing on thesis development and seeking improvement proposals (K.U. Leuven and University of Utrecht). In terms of knowledge transfer to society, since 2014, I have participated in 7 transfer contracts with the port authorities of the Bay of Cádiz and Algeciras to conduct economic impact studies.
